How it Works  

Students who were enrolled in at least six credits during spring term 2021(the term that ended in June 2021) will be automatically entered into the drawing. On July 28, the college will randomly choose 10 students. The random students drawn must provide proof of vaccination and residency to accept their scholarship. The scholarship will be applied to fall term 2021.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Enrolled at Centralia College spring term 2021 in at least 6 credits
  • Did not graduate or complete program of study at the end of spring term 2021
  • Washington residents
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination. Students must have had at least the first shot administered by July 28. Proof of vaccination, such as the vaccination card, will be required.
  • Enrolled in at least 12 credits fall term 2021

July 28
  • Students must have received at least their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Ten names will be randomly drawn from the list of all students enrolled in at least six credits during spring 2021.
July 29
Selected students will be notified of their award.
Fall 2021
Awards will be distributed within the first week of fall 2021.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

On June 3, 2021, Governor Inslee publicly announced a vaccination incentive program called “Shot of a Lifetime” that included a Washington Lottery drawing. In addition to the “Shot of a Lifetime” incentive, the program included funds for institutions of higher education (IHE) to fund their own vaccine incentive programs. Each two-year IHE received $10,000 to be given away as scholarships in a selection process that will take place in July of 2021.
Centralia College will use an online random number generator to determine the 10 randomly selected students and alternates. Students will be notified on July 29 of their selection.
Centralia College will award 10 eligible students $1,000 scholarships. Scholarships can be applied to fall quarter tuition, books, fees, and other educational costs.
  • Centralia College students only, including Running Start students
  • Enrolled in at least 6 credits during spring term 2021
  • Did not graduate or complete program of study at the end of spring term 2021
  • Washington residents or the student’s domicile has been in the State of Washington for at least 30 days before the date of award of the scholarship (international students who fall under this requirement are eligible)
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Students are eligible if they have had at least their first shot administered by July 28. Proof of vaccination, such as the vaccination card, will be required.
  • Enrolled in at least 12 credits for fall term 2021

You need to do nothing. There is no action required to sign up. All students who were enrolled in at least six credits in spring term 2021 and did not graduate or complete their program will automatically be entered into the drawing.

Upon being selected, students will be required to show proof of vaccination, Washington residency, and confirmation of fall term enrollment.

The scholarship can be used for tuition, books, supplies, fees, and other educational related expenses.

Acceptance of a vaccine incentive award may impact a student’s eligibility for and calculated amounts of Federal Financial Aid and/or Public Assistance Programs.

If you are selected for the scholarship and receiving financial aid for Fall quarter, Centralia College’s Financial Aid department will help you determine the impact it may have on you.

If you are selected you may want to contact your state caseworker to see if it will impact your public assistance.

Scholarships will be disbursed the first week of fall term 2021, which starts Sept. 20, 2021.

Any money left after paying tuition will be mailed as a check to students.

Centralia College will contact winners via phone and email on July 29.
Get vaccinated! If your name is selected, you will have to provide proof that you were vaccinated by July 28. If you’re not, we will select another student.

All Washington residents 12 years old and up are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccination. Vaccines are free and health insurance is not required.
