Summer Musicals at CCEast
Centralia College East partners with the Fire Mountain Arts Council each summer to produce a summer musical at the Roxy Theatre in Morton.
No summer production – but there will be a chance to create!
It is with great sadness that Centralia College East and Fire Mountain Arts Council (FMAC) announce the summer musical has been cancelled. There were just too many unknowns to move forward with a production of that size.
In light of this decision, CCEast and FMAC is offering an alternative for summer quarter – an online experience and opportunity to create and express the feelings and emotions this pandemic has generated. Creating Art from Crisis is a 2-credit elective course developed and taught by Lynne Olmos. A non-credit option will be available as well for those not interested in college credit.
The class will have meeting days and times, but will be conducted virtually. Participants will be preparing monologues or small group presentations. There will be a performance – either virtually or live, depending on the restrictions – at the end of the class in mid-August.
This is an opportunity for individuals, families, and small groups to work together to creatively explore the emotions and experiences that have risen out of the current pandemic. Olmos describes it as “monologues as time capsules.” We invite you to join us.
